Coffee Consumption In Russia Has Increased 10 Times In 30 Years
Consumption of natural coffee in Russia for 30 years has increased from 0.2 to 2.1 kg per person, follows from the calculations of the Rosselkhoznadzor.
“Since 1991, the consumption of natural coffee has grown mainly due to an increase in the solvency of the population and the development of a culture of coffee consumption. Over the past 5 years, natural coffee has been drunk by 30% more, and the main driver now is the purchase of takeaway coffee,” said Andrey Dalnov, head of the bank’s Industry Expertise Center.
According to him, now a Russian on average drinks about 300 cups of natural coffee a year, while 30 years ago he could afford only 29.
After the introduction of covid restrictions in 2020, the growth rate of coffee consumption decreased to 6% for the year against 13% a year earlier. In 2021, this indicator increased by 8%, which indicates a return to the pre-pandemic trend .
