Durban Hosts Creative Coffee Week with Global Experts Highlighting Yemeni Coffee

Renowned figures in the specialty coffee industry are set to converge in Durban for the annual Creative Coffee Week (CCW), an event dedicated to exploring global trends in the beloved beverage. Sponsored by FNB, the event will take place from July 24 to 26 at FNB’s Acacia House on uMhlanga Ridge.

Leading Figures in Coffee Industry

One of the standout participants is Patrik Rolf from April Coffee in Denmark. Rolf, a four-time world finalist as a coffee roaster and barista, is also a renowned influencer in the coffee world. This will be Rolf’s first visit to South Africa, where he will share his extensive knowledge with industry professionals, including roasters, baristas, and coffee business owners.

April Brewers Cup

A major highlight of this year’s event is the April Brewers Cup, marking its debut in South Africa. The competition will feature top baristas from across the country, including two former South African Barista champions and two Cup Tasters champions, ensuring a fiercely contested event.

Expert Insights

Andrew Nicholson, a leading authority on Yemeni coffee, will also be in attendance. Nicholson, who hails from Windrose Coffee in Oman, has over 20 years of experience working with highly sought-after Yemeni coffee. As a Coffee Q-Grader and international coffee judge, Nicholson will provide valuable insights into the Middle Eastern coffee landscape.

Miranda Caldwell, known as the Coffee MBA, will share her expertise on the business side of coffee. With two decades of experience in roles ranging from COO to green buyer, sales leader, product marketing manager, educator, barista, and café manager, Caldwell’s session is expected to offer crucial knowledge for coffee business owners.
