International Coffee Partners: Empowering Smallholder Coffee Farmers
International Coffee Partners (ICP) is a unique collaboration of seven prominent family-owned coffee companies: Delta Cafés, Franck, Joh. Johannson, Lavazza, Löfbergs, Neumann Kaffee Gruppe, and Tchibo. Established in 2001, ICP is dedicated to supporting smallholder coffee farming families around the world.
Vision and Goals:
ICP envisions a world where smallholder coffee farmers thrive in a competitive and sustainable coffee sector. Their main objectives are to improve farmers’ livelihoods, enhance economic stability, and promote environmental sustainability. ICP is committed to tackling challenges such as climate change, economic instability, gender inequality, and rural youth migration.
Work and Impact:
ICP has positively impacted over 118,582 smallholder families through various projects. These initiatives focus on sustainable farming practices, community development, and resilience against market and environmental pressures. ICP’s work is aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), contributing to global efforts in poverty reduction, gender equality, and environmental sustainability.
Projects and Initiatives:
ICP’s projects, implemented by Hanns R. Neumann Stiftung (HRNS), span multiple countries and address local needs. They engage directly with smallholder families, providing them with resources, training, and support to improve their agricultural practices and livelihoods. Key project areas include climate adaptation, economic diversification, and strengthening community structures.
Learning and Adaptation:
ICP considers itself a learning organization, constantly evaluating its interventions to ensure maximum effectiveness. By learning from both positive and critical experiences, ICP continually refines its approaches to better serve coffee farming communities.
Future Endeavors:
ICP is dedicated to creating a prosperous future for coffee farming families. They aim to expand their reach, enhance their impact, and continue fostering sustainable development within the coffee industry.
