2024 UAE AeroPress Championship Set to Break Records with Over 400 Competitors

The UAE’s largest and most thrilling coffee competition, the UAE AeroPress Championship, is set to return this August for its eighth edition, promising to be the biggest yet with a record-breaking 400 participants. This premier event offers a unique platform for coffee enthusiasts and professional baristas to showcase their skills, pushing the boundaries of coffee brewing excellence.

Winners of the national championship will earn the prestigious opportunity to represent the UAE at the 2024 World AeroPress Championship finals in Lisbon, Portugal, in September.

The 2024 UAE Championships will be held at the DMCC Coffee Centre, in collaboration with the DMCC Gaming Centre, marking the fifth consecutive year this premier venue has hosted the event. Saeed Alsuwaidi, Director of Agri Commodities at DMCC, expressed his excitement: “We are thrilled to host the 2024 UAE AeroPress Championship at the DMCC Coffee Centre once again. This event highlights the incredible talent within our coffee community and reinforces Dubai’s status as a global hub for specialty coffee. Garfield Kerr, the event organiser and CEO of Mokha 1450, added, “We have listened to feedback from previous participants who were unable to compete due to space constraints. This year, we have expanded our capacity to accommodate nearly all interested competitors, aiming to set a new world record in the process.”

The 2024 UAE AeroPress Championship will commence with two regional championships on August 1st and 2nd, culminating in the national championship on August 3rd at the DMCC Almas Conference Centre in Almas Tower, Jumeirah Lake Towers, Dubai.

This year’s theme, “Pressing Boundaries,” underscores the idea that pressure creates diamonds, exceptional coffee, and champions. Unique activations by the DMCC Gaming Centre will make this one of the most exciting events in the industry this year.

Coffee lovers and supporters are invited to witness and cheer on the best baristas and coffee aficionados in the UAE as they compete for a spot on the global stage at the 2024 World AeroPress Championship, scheduled from September 19-21 in Lisbon, Portugal.

  • Featuring competitors from Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain, Ajman, and Fujairah.
• 2024 Southern Emirates Regional AeroPress Championship
  • August 2nd, starting at 1 PM, at the DMCC Almas Conference Centre.
  • Featuring competitors from Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Sharjah.
• 2024 National AeroPress Championship
  • August 3rd, starting at 6 PM, at the DMCC Almas Conference Centre.
  • Featuring 21 competitors: the top three from each Emirate, plus three Golden Ticket winners and three Best Volunteer participants.

About the Competition:

The World AeroPress Championship has grown to become the largest coffee competition globally, evolving into a significant community and cultural phenomenon. The competition includes over 120 regional and national events across more than 60 countries, with finals previously held in prominent locations such as the United States, United Kingdom, South Korea, Australia, and Canada.

The competition’s primary goals are to provide a platform for baristas and coffee enthusiasts to hone their skills, showcase their talents in a relaxed setting, and promote the spirit and quality of specialty coffee. Additionally, it aims to educate the public on the nuances of coffee preparation and the journey from farm to cup, fostering a deeper appreciation for the industry’s diversity and innovation.

What is an AeroPress?

An AeroPress is an affordable coffee brewing gadget that uses both infusion and pressure to extract flavors from coffee beans. Its versatility allows baristas to experiment with different brewing methods, each yielding unique flavor profiles. This flexibility inspired coffee expert Tim Williams to launch the first AeroPress Championship in 2008.
