Responsibilities: The Junior Economist will be part of the ICO Economics Section and will contribute to the development and implementation of the ICO annual program of activities. Key responsibilities include conducting research on global coffee market dynamics, socio-economic aspects of coffee production, and providing inputs on various economic publications. The incumbent will also assist in the organization of conferences, supervise coffee sector development projects, and represent the ICO at relevant events.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- University degree in economics, agricultural economics, quantitative analysis, development studies, or a related field.
- Experience in quantitative analysis/econometric techniques using statistical software (e.g., STATA, R, SPSS).
- Knowledge of global agricultural markets, particularly the coffee market, would be advantageous.
- Excellent command of the English language, oral and written. Knowledge of Spanish, Portuguese, or French is a strong asset.
- Ability to maintain good relations with staff and external contacts, initiative, tact, and ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
- Good organizational skills and ability to work in a team.
