World of Coffee Geneva 2025 Opens with Strong Global Attendance

World of Coffee Geneva 2025 officially opened this morning at Palexpo in Geneva, Switzerland, drawing thousands of coffee professionals and industry experts from around the world to one of Europe’s most anticipated coffee events.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony was led by Garfield Kerr, Chairman of the Board of the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA), alongside Yannis Apostolopoulos, the Association’s Chief Executive Officer. Their presence marked the official launch of a dynamic event that brings together innovation, sustainability, and global collaboration in the coffee sector.

From the very first moments, the venue was bustling with activity. Every corner—from exhibitor booths and the Roaster Village to the competition stages and lecture halls—was filled with enthusiastic attendees, reflecting the global significance and momentum of the specialty coffee industry.

One of the key highlights of the day was the participation of Mundik Albas, the UAE’s national representative in the World Barista Championship. Competing against a large and diverse group of international contenders, Albas aspires to secure a top-five finish—a goal that has garnered notable support from regional visitors and fellow professionals.

Another notable moment was attending activities hosted by the Circular Economy in Coffee initiative, of which Qahwa World is a proud member. This marks our first joint participation at an international event, underscoring our commitment to sustainability and innovation in coffee.

This year’s show features over 430 exhibitors representing more than 160 countries, with key sponsors including:

  • BWT water+more (Host Sponsor)

  • Barista Attitude (Platinum Sponsor)

  • Nestlé Professional (Diamond Sponsor)

  • Alpro (Gold Sponsor)

Café de Colombia is the Portrait Country of 2025, showcasing its cultural heritage and coffee excellence through a curated pop-up café and live activations that highlight the country’s deep-rooted coffee traditions.

Over the next three days, the event will host four major World Coffee Championships:

  • World Latte Art Championship

  • World Coffee in Good Spirits Championship

  • World Cup Tasters Championship

  • Cezve/Ibrik Championship

The winners of these competitions will be announced on Saturday, June 28, marking the conclusion of a packed agenda filled with workshops, business networking, educational sessions, and celebrations of coffee excellence.
