Kelachandra Coffee to Spotlight India’s Specialty Coffee Excellence at World of Coffee 2025 Jakarta
Kelachandra Coffee, India’s largest privately held coffee plantation company, is set to represent Indian specialty coffee on the global stage at World of Coffee 2025, taking place from May 15–17 at the Jakarta International Convention Center (JICC), Indonesia. As the first-ever World of Coffee hosted in a coffee-producing Asian country, this landmark event offers a unique opportunity for Kelachandra to spotlight India’s emergence as a leader in sustainable, high-quality coffee.
With Indian coffee exports soaring to USD 1.54 billion—a remarkable 40% increase from the previous year—Kelachandra Coffee will showcase its Rainforest Alliance-certified, shade-grown Arabica and Robusta beans, cultivated across 15 estates spanning 6,300 acres in the biodiversity-rich Western Ghats. Attendees can engage with the brand through cupping sessions, sustainability panels, and direct interaction at Booth AS101.
“India has entered an exciting new era in coffee, moving beyond commodity production to become a serious contender in the specialty segment,” said Neleema Rana George, Head of Coffee Works and Technology at Kelachandra Coffee. “At World of Coffee Jakarta, we’re proud to highlight the richness and innovation of our ethically grown beans—products of deep-rooted farming traditions and a commitment to environmental stewardship.”
Kelachandra’s coffee is hand-harvested and single-origin, expressing the unique terroir of the Western Ghats, where centuries-old agricultural practices meet modern technology. The company’s sustainable methods include agroforestry, intercropping, water conservation, and precision soil analysis, ensuring long-term productivity, ecosystem health, and premium bean quality.
“Over the past year, we’ve taken our shade-grown, hand-harvested Indian coffee to new global heights. In Jakarta, we look forward to sharing how biodiversity and timeless practices come together in every cup,” said Ryana Kuruvilla, Head of People and Culture at Kelachandra Coffee.
Sustainability remains the cornerstone of Kelachandra’s mission. The estates employ regenerative and climate-resilient agricultural practices, while supporting a workforce that is 55% female. Through adherence to the EDUR (Ethical & Directly Uplifting Relationships) model, Kelachandra ensures responsible sourcing, fair labor, and alignment with global environmental benchmarks, including the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR).
“Sustainability isn’t just responsible farming—it’s about building resilient ecosystems,” said Rishina Kuruvilla, Head of CSR and Sustainability at Kelachandra. “Our 15 Rainforest Alliance-certified estates are living proof that high-quality coffee and ecological integrity can go hand in hand. We’re proud to be setting new standards for sustainability from India to the world.”
As part of its Jakarta debut, Kelachandra invites coffee professionals to an exclusive cupping session with Nichel Saputra, barista and founder of Nick Coffee, on May 17 at 12:00 PM at Booth L217 – Coffee Beyond Borders. The Kelachandra leadership team will be present to engage with partners and share insights into India’s specialty coffee evolution.
