Saudi Coffee Company Expands Strategic Partnerships to Elevate National Coffee Industry
The Saudi Coffee Company (SCC) is advancing its mission to strengthen the Kingdom’s coffee sector by forging seven new strategic partnerships with key private sector entities. Announced during the PIF Private Sector Forum 2025 in Riyadh, these agreements aim to enhance local coffee production, drive innovation, and create a more resilient supply chain.
Among the newly signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs), SCC has partnered with Shahia Food Limited Company, the Saudi master franchisee of Dunkin’, to collaborate on research, product development, and innovation. This agreement also includes a commitment to improving barista training across Dunkin’s 800 stores in the country through the Saudi Coffee Company Academy, which offers specialized education in coffee roasting, brewing techniques, and barista skills.
SCC has also expanded its partnership with Alghanim Industries, the Saudi franchisee of Costa Coffee, reinforcing its supply agreement by sourcing coffee beans from SCC’s newly established manufacturing facility in Jazan. This follows a previous deal from May 2024, when Costa Coffee introduced Jazean filter coffee across its 100 stores. The new agreement is expected to support further product development initiatives, strengthening the presence of locally grown Saudi coffee.
In addition to its work with major coffee chains, SCC is investing in advanced agricultural and technological innovations. A partnership with Future Harvest, a Riyadh-based company, will explore freeze-drying technology for coffee preservation. Collaboration with Ma’aden, one of Saudi Arabia’s largest mining companies, will focus on developing specialized fertilizers tailored to coffee farming. SCC has also signed agreements with premium chocolatier Aani & Dani for new product development, and with Initial Saudi Group and Lawazem to optimize facilities management and supply chain operations.
Commenting on the agreements, SCC CEO Khalid N. Abu Theeb highlighted the importance of these partnerships in positioning Saudi coffee as a premium product on the global stage. “These MoUs represent a significant milestone in our journey to build a thriving and sustainable coffee industry. By working closely with key stakeholders, we are ensuring that Saudi coffee gains the recognition it deserves,” he said.
Since its establishment in May 2022, SCC has been committed to developing Saudi Arabia’s domestic coffee sector through sustainable agricultural practices, education, and strategic trade deals. With a SAR 1.2 billion ($320 million) investment from the Public Investment Fund (PIF), the company has set ambitious goals, including increasing the Kingdom’s coffee production from 300 to 2,500 tons annually by 2028 and planting 10 million coffee trees in the Jazan region within the next decade.
Earlier in 2024, SCC secured agreements to supply Jeddah-based coffee chains Barn’s and BON Cafe with Saudi-grown coffee, marking another step toward solidifying its presence in the domestic market. The latest partnerships reinforce SCC’s commitment to innovation and excellence, bringing together local expertise and international best practices to create a more competitive and self-sufficient coffee sector in Saudi Arabia.
